Man Wrapped Belt Around Girlfriend's Neck, Choked Her, Police Say

Morris McDonald , who lives in North St. Louis County, is being held in St. Louis County jail after police said he choked his girlfriend with a belt.

A North County man faces abuse charges after police said he choked his girlfriend with a belt.

Morris Antonio McDonald, 27, of the 3600 block of Av de Paris in unincorporated North County near Vaile Avenue and Old Halls Ferry Road, was charged Thursday with second-degree domestic assault.

St. Louis County Police said McDonald wrapped a belt around his girlfriend’s neck and choked her May 8 in the 6800 block of Chesapeake Drive in North County just east of Black Jack.

McDonald pleaded guilty in 2008 to third-degree domestic assault, assaulting a law enforcement officer and distributing a controlled substance. He was on probation after pleading guilty to possession of a controlled substance in 2010.

McDonald is being held in St. Louis County jail. Bail was set at $50,000.
