North County Man Charged With Raping Young Girl Over Three-Year Period

The defendant, Cory Byrd, is being held in St. Louis County jail in lieu of a $250,000 bond.

A North County man faces several criminal charges after University City Police said he had sex with a young girl while she was between the ages of 5 and 8 years old.

Cory Byrd, 31, of the 4400 block of Paddock Point Avenue in Black Jack, was charged Thursday with several crimes, including six counts of first-degree statutory sodomy and three counts of first-degree statutory rape.

University City Police said the crimes took place between Nov. 26, 2009 and Nov. 25, 2012.

Byrd was being held Friday in St. Louis County jail. Bail was set at $250,000.

University City Police said they did not have a photo of the defendant that could be released.
