North County Man Charged in Sunswept Apartment Shooting

St. Louis County Police said Lonnie L. Brown shot at and hit a man in the lower right back at the apartment complex in August.

A man was charged in an Aug. 6 shooting at Sunswept Apartments in North County.

St. Louis County Police said Lonnie L. Brown, 29, shot at and hit man at Sunswept Apartments at about 7:58 p.m. Aug. 6.

Brown, of the 2500 block of Woodsage Drive, was charged Wednesday with first-degree assault with serious physical injury and armed criminal action.

St. Louis County Police said Brown knocked on an door at he apartment complex in the 3100 block of Sunswept Park Drive where the victim was visiting. The two men walked down a flight of steps in the building. Police said Brown then pulled out a handgun, pointed it at the man and fired a shot.

The man ran inside the apartment and locked the door, according to the police report. He then discovered he had been shot in the lower right back. The man identified Brown as the shooter, police said.

Brown lives just a few blocks from the apartment complex.

He was being held in St. Louis County jail Friday. Bail was set at $25,000.
