No Further Investigation Pending Against Florissant Police Captain

Chief William Karabas announced Thursday afternoon in light of Capt. Jerome Burke's retirement, no further investigation is needed.

In the release, Chief William Karabas said that he had asked the St. Louis County Police to do an impartial investigation into the July incident to help in determining if any disciplinary action should be taken.

Furthermore, he said that Burke had been put on medical leave and had been deemed fit to return to duty.

“The City is constrained from talking about Captain Burke’s physical health under the HIPAA laws,” Karabas said in the release. “The City has been concerned about Captain Burke’s health, but again, it would be inappropriate to discuss his confidential medical history and condition.”
