Man Steals Woman's Car After Brief Internet Romance

St. Louis County Police said Paul Myles stole a car from a woman in Spanish Lake after the two met online.

A Spanish Lake woman had her car stolen March 30 by a man she met on the Internet.

Paul Myles, 27, of the 9300 block of Koenig Circle Drive in Berkeley, was charged Friday with stealing a vehicle.

St. Louis County Police said the woman met Myles on the Internet and they had a brief relationship. On March 29, he spent the night in the woman’s home in Spanish Lake. When she awoke at about 6 a.m., Myles and her 2006 Chrysler Pacifica were gone.

Myles turned himself in to his probation officer, and said he left the Pacifica at Page Industrial Court in Overland. He told officers he threw the keys away.

Police located the vehicle but could not find the keys.

Myles was on probation after he pleaded guilty to distributing a controlled substance in 2009. He is being held in the St. Louis County Justice Center. Bail for the stolen car charge was set at $10,000.
