Man Put Concealed Handgun in Stolen Car, Police Say
Florissant Police said the man fled from the police officer who approached him.
A man faces criminal charges after a police officer saw him putting put an item into a car that was reported stolen.
Florissant Police said an officer saw Derenta Street, 22, put a brown shoulder bag into a stolen car at 306 Dunn Road in Florissant Dec. 11, 2011. When Street entered the carβs passenger side of the car, the officer approached him to arrest him.
Street fled from the officer, police said.

Police said a Masterpiece Arms 9 mm luger was concealed inside the brown shoulder bag.
Street, of the 1000 block of Hornsby in St. Louis' Baden neighborhood, was charged Thursday with unlawful use of a weapon and resisting arrest. He was being held in St. Louis County jail Friday. Bail was set at $150,0000, cash only.

Street also was charged with first-degree robbery and second-degree assault in Maplewood after he knocked over a gas station attendant while driving off without paying for gasoline.
