There’s no known motive for the shooting at this time, and the victim’s identity won’t be released until it has been confirmed and the family has been notified.

Patch contributor Catherine Krummey lives in the neighborhood and was stunned by the news of the murder.

"I have lived here all of my 25 years, and to my recollection, nothing of this nature has ever happened," Krummey said. "There have been a few burglaries here and there, but nothing this extreme."

Krummey noted that she thought she'd heard a noise early this morning, but assumed it was neighborhood kids playing with firecrackers.

"My neighbors, my family and I are in shock," she said.

The St. Louis County Police Department is asking anyone with information about this incident to call detectives at 314-889-2341 or Crimestoppers at 866-371-TIPS.
