Florissant Man Hits Robbery Victim in Head With Bat, Takes Cell Phone

The victim needed staples to close a gash in his head from the attack, police said.

A Florissant man hit a robbery victim in the head twice with an aluminum baseball bat before taking his cell phone, Hazelwood Police said.

Police said Aaron Lawson, 20, followed the man to his residence Dec. 3 in the 1600 block of Ville Cecilia Lane in Hazelwood. Lawson attacked the resident when he got out of his car. Lawson also punched the man in the face, police said.

Hazelwood Police said the man knew Lawson. The victim needed staples to close a gash in his head, according to a police report.

Lawson, of the 800 block of Loyola Drive in Florissant, was charged Tuesday with first-degree robbery, first-degree assault and two counts of armed criminal action.

Lawson was being held in St. Louis County jail Wednesday. Bail was set at $50,000.
