Man Broke Into Girlfriend's Home, Beat Her When She Returned, Police Say

A man is accused of breaking into his former girlfriend’s home in Florissant and beating her on Valentine's Day.

Rahkem McNulty, 43, of the 1400 block of Werremeyer Place in St. Louis County’s Elmwood Park neighborhood, was charged Feb. 15 with second-degree domestic assault and first-degree burglary.

Florissant Police said McNulty entered the woman’s home in the 200 block of Capri Dr. in Florissant without her permission. He was there when she returned home. McNulty confronted her about where she had been, made accusations and began hitting her, according to court documents.

McNulty continued to hit and punch her as she lay on the ground and choked her until she believed she was going to pass out, police reported in the probable cause statement.

Officers said the woman had two black eyes, a swollen forehead, swollen cheeks and a cut on the side of her face.

The woman told police she believes McNulty entered her home through a window.

McNulty is being held in St. Louis County jail. Bail was set at $50,000, cash only.
