Florissant Residents Get First-Hand Look at Police Training

The Florissant Police Department will host an eight-week Citizen Police Academy.

For residents interested in getting a taste of police training, the Florissant Police Department has the perfect opportunity.

The department will host its eight-week Citizen Police Academy, starting Aug. 28. The program helps to foster understanding between residents and police officers in each one’s needs and problems as well as how to better work together in the future.

The academy falls under the department’s Community Oriented Problem Solving) program.

During the course, residents will learn about topics such as, constitutional law, patrol procedures, firearms, traffic procedures, first aid and other items.

Although residents will not be full-fledged police officers following the program, it will allow residents to continue to work with the department and provide volunteer opportunities with it.

The program is currently accepting applications for the program, and you must be 18 or older to participate. The academy is limited to 24 participants.
