Chief William Karabas has announced his intention to retire at the end of 2012.
In a press release issued by Mayor Tom Schneider’s office Wednesday, Karabas has decided to retire Dec. 31, 2012.
“On behalf of the City Council and the Citizens of Florissant Mayor Schneider would like to express our gratitude for a job well done and wish Chief Karabas continued good health and happiness in his well deserved retirement,” the press release stated.
Karabas has worked as a police officer for more than 50 years, including 11 years with the . He’s also served as police chief of the City of Brentwood, Cool Valley and the University of Missouri at St. Louis.
