North County Residents Charged With Robbing 14 St. Louis-Area Banks

Three bank robbers from North St. Louis County, one of them from Florissant, were caught thanks to a man and his camera phone.

A man with a camera phone, in the right place at the wrong time, helped Florissant Police catch three people—one from Florissant—wanted in connection to 14 St. Louis-area bank robberies.

All three were from the North St. Louis County-area, including Michael Abbott, of Florissant; Latonya Jones, of Berkeley; and Damon Marlon Gibbs, of Ferguson.

Abbott, 28, of the 1000 block of St. Brendan Lane in Florissant, was charged by St. Louis County prosecutors in January for robbing the First Bank branch inside the Brentwood Dierberg’s store on Jan. 7.

And according to the Webster-Kirkwood Times, he also played a role in robbing the U.S. Bank inside a Schnuck's grocery store in Maryland Heights and two bank robberies in Des Peres.

According to the Webster-Kirkwood Times, the three arrests came after a joint investigation involving police departments from Brentwood, Creve Coeur, Des Peres, Florissant, Maryland Heights, Overland, St. Louis County, and Jefferson County.
