Ferguson Double-Murder Suspect Surrenders in Minnesota

Darnell Vaughn, 19, is charged with two first-degree murders in the shooting deaths of Tasheera Johnson and Claudia Williams on Aug. 30.

A suspect in a double murder in Ferguson Aug. 30 turned himself in to police in Minnesota Friday morning.

Ferguson Police said that Darnell Vaughn, 19, shot and killed 29-year-old Tasheera Johnson and 30-year-old Claudia Williams in the 1600 block of Norlakes Drive in Ferguson.

Both women were shot in the head, according to the court documents.

According to Det. Mark Leone, a spokesman for the Ferguson Police Department, Vaughn called 911 early Friday morning and surrendered to police at a Minneapolis-area hotel.Β  He's being held at Hennepin County Jail in Minnesota, pending extradition to Missouri.

Vaughn, of the Baden neighborhood in St. Louis, was charged Thursday with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of armed criminal action.

Police said Vaughn told his mother, Lois Adams, and his father, Darwin Vaughn, about the murder Aug. 30, and they placed him in a St. Louis County hotel room. They then provided a car to a family friend, Deandre Galmore, of St. Paul, MN and Galmore drove Vaughn to Minnesota, police said.

Adams and Darwin Vaughn have each been charged with two counts of hindering prosecution. Galmore has been charged with one count of hindering prosecution. They each were arrested Aug. 30. Galmore was arrested in Minnesota.

Bond for Adams, Darwin Vaughn and Galmore each was set at $100,000.

Darnell Vaughn is being held without bond.
