Ferguson Double-Murder Suspect Surrenders in Minnesota

Darnell Vaughn, 19, is charged with two first-degree murders in the shooting deaths of Tasheera Johnson and Claudia Williams on Aug. 30.

A suspect in a double murder in Ferguson Aug. 30 turned himself in to police in Minnesota Friday morning.

Ferguson Police said that Darnell Vaughn, 19, shot and killed 29-year-old Tasheera Johnson and 30-year-old Claudia Williams in the 1600 block of Norlakes Drive in Ferguson.

Both women were shot in the head, according to the court documents.

According to Det. Mark Leone, a spokesman for the Ferguson Police Department, Vaughn called 911 early Friday morning and surrendered to police at a Minneapolis-area hotel.  He's being held at Hennepin County Jail in Minnesota, pending extradition to Missouri.

Vaughn, of the Baden neighborhood in St. Louis, was charged Thursday with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of armed criminal action.

Police said Vaughn told his mother, Lois Adams, and his father, Darwin Vaughn, about the murder Aug. 30, and they placed him in a St. Louis County hotel room. They then provided a car to a family friend, Deandre Galmore, of St. Paul, MN and Galmore drove Vaughn to Minnesota, police said.

Adams and Darwin Vaughn have each been charged with two counts of hindering prosecution. Galmore has been charged with one count of hindering prosecution. They each were arrested Aug. 30. Galmore was arrested in Minnesota.

Bond for Adams, Darwin Vaughn and Galmore each was set at $100,000.

Darnell Vaughn is being held without bond.

If his parents hid him and provided the means for him to leave town and evade police, it seems that complete and utter disrespect for the law is a family value that was taught very early on in life. With parents like that, it's no wonder he turned out the way he did. Maybe THIS one will get a nice long prison sentence. Like the rest of his life.

Your points are well taken K, but alas, such is their prevailing mentality.

Aren't the parents accessories or accomplicances? Seems to me they should also be going to jail, or is just another case of a slap on the hand and told not to do this again? The law these days is in favor of the criminal not the victim! It sucks!!!!!!

Theres closure for the friends and family of the two young women.I guess they thought it was ok to take two innocent women lives and run away from it!Justice is served!

I read about this and was wondering if they ever caught this piece of sh#%. Anyway i'm glad the family is getting some closure. Also very happy to have this menace off rhe streets. As for his mother and father a term i'm using very loosely they need to be locked the hell up. What kind of people are you ro know that your child had murdered two people and all you can think to do is send his ass out of town. Sad, i guess guilt was eating him up and he turned himself in, seems as though he's got some semblance of a conscience were as his parents dosen't.
