Father and Son Broke Man's Nose With Tire Iron and Bat, Police Say

The victim threatened his family Lagrand Benson told St. Louis County Police. He is charged with first-degree assault.

A father and son are accused of hitting another man with a bat and a tire iron Feb. 6 in the parking lot at 11740 West Florissant near New Halls Ferry Road.

Lagrand Benson, 54, of the 12500 block of Shoreside Drive in North County, was charged Friday with first-degree assault and armed criminal action. St. Louis County Police said Benson’s son, Jerron Benson, 33, also is being sought for participating in the assault, police said.

Lagrand Benson told police the man threatened his family.

St. Louis County Police said that the man was sitting in his car when Lagrand and Jerron Benson approached his car outside 314 Hair Gallery. They had a tire iron and a bat. Police said the two shattered his car window and hit him with the bat and tire iron, breaking his nose.

The man told police he drove away and kept driving until he found a St. Louis County police officer at a gas station.

Jerron Benson is owner of the 314 Hair Gallery at 11740 West Florissant, police said.

Lagrand Benson was being held in St. Louis County jail Tuesday. Bail was set at $25,000.
