Driver Robbed at Gunpoint After Giving Ride to Black Jack Man, Police Say

Sylvester Garth, of Black Jack, is charged with first-degree robbery.

A North County man was robbed at gunpoint after offering a Black Jack man a ride.

St. Louis County Police said a man gave a ride to Sylvester Garth, 18, at 9 a.m. July 11 at Landseer and Luxmore drives in North County.

Police said Garth got in the backseat behind the man and put a gun to his head and demanded money. The man gave him $340 and Garth left the vehicle.

Garth, of the 4800 block of Chalfont Road in Black Jack, was charged July 16 with first-degree robbery and armed criminal action. He is being held in the St. Louis County Justice Center. Bail was set at $200,000.
