Florissant Police Captain Decides to Retire Amid Controversy

Captain Jerome Burke retires after 28 years with Florissant Police Department. He was found unconscious in his take-home police car Monday.

Mayor Tom Schneider’s office announced that Captain Jerome Burke retired from the  Wednesday.  on Monday night.

He had been placed on unpaid leave and was under investigation, according to the Florissant Police Department.

“He has been a good officer and friend and will be missed by all,” the press release stated. “Our thoughts and prayers are with him, his family and his father Jerry Burke Senior who retired as the Normandy Police chief and is currently recovering from open heart surgery.”

He had been a police officer with the city of Florissant for 28 years.
