Child Brings Gun to School

A student saw the boy with the gun in his backpack and notified an adult.

A 10-year-old boy brought a gun to school on Friday.

That's according to St. Louis County Police Departmen, which said it happened at Larimore Elementary School in Hazelwood School District.

St. Louis County Police told KMOV a child alerted school officials a classmate had a pistol in their backpack. A school resource officer was called in and found the gun.

The child did not brandish the weapon or point it at anyone, according to police; so it isn't clear if it was a case of misguided show-and-tell, or if there was true malice.

Police are investigating to find the source of the gun. No charges have been filed in connection with the situation.
