Black Jack Man Charged in Drug Deal Shooting in Ferguson

Ferguson Police said John Dailey was one of three men who drove to a location near Hudson Park, where they planned to buy marijuana.

A Black Jack man was charged in connection with a drug deal that ended in a shooting Wednesday at 1271 Hudson Road in Ferguson.

John Dailey, 20, of the 13000 block of Mystic Bend Lane in Black Jack, was charged Thursday with first-degree robbery, first-degree assault, two counts of armed criminal action and tampering with evidence.

Ferguson Police said that Dailey was driving with two others to Hudson Park in Ferguson to buy marijuana. Police said that during the transaction, one of the three men pulled out a gun and shot the marijuana dealer as he tried to escape. The man was seriously injured. They took his marijuana and cell phone and drove off, police said.

Dailey took the van to the 5000 block of Minerva Avenue in the city of St. Louis and tried to clean blood and other evidence from the van, according to the police report.

Ferguson Police said they are seeking one other individual in the case.

Dailey is being held in St. Louis County jail. Bail has been set at $100,000.
