2 Men Sentenced for Florissant 2011 Bank Robbery

Otis McAllister and Ray Anthony Bassett each received sentences for their role in a conspiracy to rob a Pulaski Bank branch.

United States District Judge Stephen N. Limbaugh, Jr. sentenced two men Friday morning in connection with a conspiracy to rob Pulaski Bank in Florissant in 2011.

Otis McAllister and Ray Anthony Bassett received 30 months and 138 months, respectively, for their involvement in the robbery conspiracy, according to a news release from the Missouri Eastern District Attorney’s Office.

According to the release, the men and other family members planned to rob a Pulaski Bank branch in Florissant Nov. 4, 2011.

Otis McAllister and Anthony McAllister sought help from Ray Anthony Bassett and Willie J. Bassett to plan the robbery. The Bassetts are brothers and cousins to Otis McAllister, and he is the uncle of Anthony McAllister.

Ray Anthony Bassett was found guilty earlier this year of one felony count each of conspiracy to commit bank robbery, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence, and being a previously convicted felon in possession of a firearm. Otis McAllister was convicted of one felony count of solicitation to commit a crime of violence. A jury previously acquitted Willie James Bassett, Jr. and Anthony McAllister.

Otis McCallister is already serving 37 years in federal prison for a string of armed robberies that happened during a five-year period of St. Louis-area banks and credit unions.
