The (Almost) Perfect Day

The wedding has come and gone, but not without a few flaws.

I’ve been accused of being a perfectionist. When I do my work, a project or anything, I work to make it perfect. I’ve tried to get away from this throughout the years, but it doesn’t always prove—well, perfect.

Someone once said that a beautiful thing is not perfect, and that could be applied to everything about my wedding.

In the beginning, I wanted everything to go perfectly and be a beautiful day, but I think an imperfect day was just as beautiful.

This past week became extremely stressful. From the forecast of rain changing my outdoor venue to inside of my reception hall to the programs being delivered very late, one could say that I didn’t enjoy the week leading up to the big day.

That’s totally wrong.

Despite the stress and the change of venue and all of the other problems, I remained relatively calm and excited.

Our family from across the country came to see Robert and me marry and become a big family.

We read our vows to one another and had a beautiful day.

For weeks, I stressed, cried and worried about June 18, and now it has come and gone.

It was an amazing day, and now, I’m Mrs. Robert Williams.

Stay tuned for more details on our wedding and our new life in upcoming columns.

I previously added a comment over a week ago but it did not enter. So here we go again! I want to thank all our family & friends, including the Patch family, for making Aja & Robert's wedding day so special!
