Gunshots on Lindsay Lane: True or False?

A Patch reader says she heard gunshots on Lindsay Lane on Wednesday, but Florissant Police call the report unfounded.

Florissant Patch received a tip from a reader Wednesday regarding an incident she said happened on Lindsay Lane around 1 p.m.

"There were gunshots," the reader wrote. "I heard around 5 shots fired."

She added that she had been trying to find out what happened, since she lives one street over from Lindsay and was concerned for her family's safety.

"When I called the police, they said they already knew about it," the tipster said.

Patch contacted Florissant Police officer Andy Haarman, who said the department investigated the incident but it was "unfounded."

"No guns, no witnesses, no bullets and no damage," Haarman added.

I saw a bunch of kids tossing firecrackers into the street near Paul Avenue ( I think that's the cross street, but it might have been further up).

i have heard gun shots around the Bagert Park area in the past and called police and they responded very fast! i guess this is becomeing commonplace to hear because a few weeks ago i heard several shots on three nights around Harrison and i assume nobody called the police.no lights/sirens. i just got onto this site and was floored from all the burglaries in Florissant.i guess us "old folks" need to keep a eye out for anything!

I believe the number of burglaries is a little misleading as I checked several of the locations and they are barely inside the city limits. Also people should remember that Florissant has greatly increased its boundaries by adding several large unincorporated STC neighborhoods. So that would affect the overall crime stats as compared to past years. It is, unfortunately a fact that crime is on the rise in just about every community large and small. I have never heard any gunshots but there are a lot of kids (likely adults to) who set off fireworks and I do know the difference because my father was an avid gun collector/hunter. Still, I quite agree that we all need to be vigilant and look out for our neighbors , well all the citizens really. Use some common sense, report it to the police who I also agree are very quick to respond. I have lived here a long time and have no plans to relocate. I absolutely refuse to let any adverse element force me out of my home where I have been very happy for many years. I trust the city officials to take care of problems that arise and I have nothing but praise for our police department.

If you go to Florissant Police Departments website you can view monthly crime/arrest reports...there are a lot of burglaries in Florissant, especially on Lindsey and neighboring streets.
