With being married for just a little bit more than month, there’s a question that seems to be circulating in everyone’s mind: When are you all having a baby?
I guess when you make one giant leap into life that you’re expected to make the next one pretty soon?
It’s one of the most popular questions that people ask upon meeting us.
In case you’re wondering, the answer is, no time soon.
That’s not to say we don’t want children whatsoever, but it’s more of a thing that we want to be as prepared as we possibly can be.
There are a number of factors to look at when we discuss this:
School: My husband remains pursuing his degree at this time, and I’m thinking of returning to school part-time to work on a master’s degree. Therefore, between both of us with full-time jobs and schoolwork, we don’t see it happening.
Money: We don’t feel financially ready for this commitment. That’s the bottom line.
Maturity: We’re still in our twenties, and we want to enjoy them. We like to be able to go out and have our house to ourselves.
With all of that being said however, we have taken a small step toward having a baby.
We’ve recently adopted a dog named Snuffy, who’s become a big adjustment to our lives. I’ve never owned a dog, and I thought this would be good practice in moving toward a child.
At any rate, becoming a parent is a big responsibility that we’re not ready for. So for right now, I’ll enjoy being Snuffy’s mom.
