Winter Weather Advisory for O'Fallon

Please do not park cars on O'Fallon streets tomorrow!

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather warning for Thursday, February 21, from 9 a.m. to midnight.

The forecast calls for a combination of snow, sleet and/or ice that could make for dangerous driving conditions and impact trees and power lines. Current forecasts call for the most significant precipitation to fall between 9 a.m. and noon, but please stay tuned to local media for the most up-to-date information.

O'Fallon's snow crews are pre-treating roads in anticipation of this storm and crews will be prepared to begin snow clearing operations if the storm hits as expected.

As a resident, you can help our crews get O'Fallon's roads cleared quickly and safely. Please do not park your car on the street tomorrow. Park it in the driveway, so that crews can easily move through the area. If you do not have a driveway, please make sure to park all cars on one side of the street.

Cars that are parked in the way of snow plows prevent crews from clearing the streets and are a significant obstacle for crews dealing with already dangerous conditions.

If a car is parked on the street and preventing crews from safely clearing the area it may be towed!

Good to know. One time, while in college, I parked my car on the street during a snow storm and found it a day later with mounds of snow around it and a ticket on the windshield.

I shared the "no street parking" information with my subdivision on our yahoogroups.com site...Many cars usually parked on the street were in driveways today but there were still cars parked on the street.
