Patch announced on Monday, James "Jim" Francis Mattingly passed away.

He died on Sunday morning at his home of an apparent heart attack. See: Mattingly's Owner Jim Mattingly Passes Away

Jim and his mother Edna started Mattingly's Inn in 1971 in the City of Hazelwood on Howdershell Road. He moved the business to Florissant some time later in 1985 after a fire destroyed the Hazelwood location. He expanded to a second location in St. Charles County in 2008.

Throughout the years the man, who is known for giving back to the Florissant/Hazelwood community, and his restaurants have gained a large and loyal following of customers.
