Look at the GOP Closely Before Voting in November

People vote against their own best interest

As you continue believing the hateful rhetoric spewed by Fox News and Limbaugh against taxes, abortion, Muslims, blacks, hispanics, and gays, this has caused you to vote against your own best interest.

You voted for people whose political platform stated that they were against spending federal dollars on social programs, while you receive unemployment, medicaid, and food stamps. Your “hate” music has become a source of recruitment. Your heroes have become the sons and daughters who join the military and risk their life just to learn how to shoot, use C-4 explosives, and gain guerilla/militia training. You’re physically attacking and shooting an entire race of people because you think they’re Muslim. You praise and uphold the rights a fertilized egg more than you respect a raped survivor.

Trickle Down theory and Deregulation is the Republican’s total plan. Simply put, Republicans have no plan to create jobs for America.

Romney’s 59-point jobs plan: “Unfortunately, no amount of economic theory, real world evidence, basic arithmetic, or just plain logic could substantiate the belief that his 59-point jobs plan could create even 59 net new jobs in the U.S. economy in total, by a conservative tally. Gov. Romney’s 59-point plan would actually cost the economy about 360,000 jobs in 2013 alone.” Tax dollars are needed to make the United States a civilized nation. Not only does Romney lie, but he has used exotic tax-avoidance schemes available only to the preposterously wealthy.  Marriott Hotel, while Romney was audit CEO, paid no taxes.

President Obama has big ideas. For the first time in years, the government took in more money than it owed in July. Republican Obstruction and filibustering will not be possible if we elect the right people to help our President.

Jim from Missouri August 25, 2012 at 09:34 pm
What do I mean? They don't want you to have a real voice in government. They don't want you to be able to earn the kind of money that will allow you to have the time, energy or education to be able to focus on what your government is really doing. Follow the money, folks. Where's it coming from.... and where's it going? Patriotism? Abortion? Gun Rights? I attended a bi-partisan political meeting just last night where a friend of mine stood up and referred to one of our St. Louis legislators as being a socialist and a Communist... and he noted that the President was not only aware of it... but was really supporting him "because of it!" He concluded his little speech by asking how many of us in the audience displayed American flags. Folks, I love the red, white and blue... but waving a piece of cloth is not going to get us where we need to be. This man... a friend... was/is so completely off course... so completely misdirected.... you have to wonder how he got there. The answer can only be... because those with money.... who want more of it.... who want the power that only money brings.... have fed his fears... and his ignorance. If you're afraid.... you have every right to be.... but you'd better think about what you're really afraid of. And, it's not abortion, gun laws or Obama Care.... it's those who are taking our income, our middle class, our country... our democracy away from us, those who want to make this into a third world dictatorship of the wealthy.

What if your convictions are voting pro-life? How can I possibly vote for a man who believes late term abortions are ok? http://www.theblaze.com/stories/obama-in-2003-i-am-pro-choice-in-all-situations-including-late-term-abortions/
I have twins who were born at 26 weeks. At one point during my high-risk pregnancy I was offered an abortion and refused--this was past the point they would survive outside of the womb. The reason? Because my children "might" have had disabilities from being born early. I am proud to say my girls are now 8 years old and are perfectly healthy. I believe that life begins at conception, and while you might not agree with me on that, certainly you can agree that there reaches a point (viability most likely) where unborn infants like my girls deserve legal protection under the law. How can a woman justify a late term abortion under the guise of "choice?"
Jo Ann Brown August 25, 2012 at 10:33 pm
Jim from Missouri I don't know you but I thank you for shedding additional light on this discussion. You've gotten to the heart of the matter. Follow the money! Karl Rove is not being paid to protect the middle class. Banks want to remain unregulated. Koch Bros. want to continue pollution. Corporate America has done away with pensions and now they want to gamble with the Social Security Trust Fund. Congress has been bought and legislate for the highest bidder. In the mean time, they sell fear to the people. Romney wants to spend money on more Haliburton projects (wars) and eliminate education. Stand for something or you'll fall for anything. Thanks.
Elizabeth O'Fallon August 25, 2012 at 10:33 pm
So because I will be voting for Mitt Romney instead of Obama, I must have been scared into it? Or am ignorant? What ever happened to respecting folks for what they believed instead of assuming they have to believe just like you do? That sounds like a very narrow view of the world...I also believe there is common ground to be found with anyone. Maybe instead of hating the other side--we could have some true discourse that didn't "hit below the belt." One of my best friends is Obama's #1 fan. We find we can get along just fine and we have great political conversations without any name calling. A little respect goes a long way.
Jim from Missouri August 25, 2012 at 10:39 pm
Dear Elizabeth, I completely agree that you should have had the choice to continue your pregnancy.... which you had (under the law). And, I think it's wonderful that you delivered two beautiful children. But, you're getting things turned around.... no one wanted to prevent you from making that choice... doctors may have advised you about the risk... but no one told you that you could not keep these beautiful children. Therefore, why would you think that you have the right to dictate to other girls/women what they should do? .... Think about it.

This blog doesn't spew hate. It calls nobody nasty names, doesn't make stuff up. I think you think it's "hate" if anybody disagrees with you. If you want to read spewing hate I strongly recommend the trolls on Salon. Or you could just go listen to Rushie once again, when he calls an honest woman a prostitute, for example. Or Akins, with his totally nutball ideas of the way a woman's body behaves and his fantasy of "legitimate" rape. There are probably a few left-wingers out that "spew hate," but there's at least a hundred more truly sick and degenerate types doing it for the insane wing. You really have selective vision. How can you stand yourself when you ally with types like these?
This woman is doing you a favor--trying to explain to people who stick their fingers in their ears and go nyaa-nyaa nyaa-nyaa that they're hurting themselves. Me, if it weren't for the fact you would drag the rest of us down with you, I would leave you to the fate you choose. I'm not an Obama-lover, by the way, but I will certainly vote for him because the alternative is not merely insanity but lies and cruelty.
jack butler August 26, 2012 at 12:11 am
You too.
jack butler August 26, 2012 at 12:29 am
I'm beginning to notice a pattern here. "Hate rhetoric" is saying anything you don't understand or agree with. Silly me. I thought it was the kind of idiotic nasty name-calling and threats I read from trolls every day. Your idea of what a "plan" is is preposterous. Nobody can predict the future, agreed. A "plan" is not a guarantee. It is, however, a detailed explanation of the steps you would take. The quality of the plan lets the voter judge the quality of the mind that proposed it. Mitt and Ryan have no plan, just promises.
jack butler August 26, 2012 at 12:44 am
The apple has fewer worms, Granny.
jack butler August 26, 2012 at 12:45 am
"Period," huh. Nobody who disagrees with you is to be allowed a say. You know, I wish Chris Ley would allow his dreck to be replied to. Someone should see if he knows how to Google.
jack butler August 26, 2012 at 12:48 am
So vote for the Mittster, already. And the Ryan Express. Rave all you like. It aint like we're gonna be surprised. Just that decent folk keeping hope the mentally disturbed won't do anything terrible to themselves or others.
jack butler August 26, 2012 at 12:51 am
Many thanks. I respect a man who can put forth a strong case in a mild voice. I'm afraid I've already had it with unpersuadable ignorance, people who think they can make the world be the way they want it by saying it's that way. I've given up on them. I admire you and Joy tremendously for not doing so, in spite of all the invective directed your way.
Elizabeth O'Fallon August 26, 2012 at 01:27 am
Jim, I'm upset that beautiful children like mine can be "thrown" away at their mother's choosing. So when it is not ok to abort a baby? 7 months? 8 months? 9 months? What makes a life a life? Is it based solely on the mother's discretion? Are children's lives protected only when they are wanted?
Steve R August 26, 2012 at 01:47 am
As to the abortion debate...what is abortion? In a "selective reduction abortion, the abortionist guides a long needle through the abdomen of a woman pregnant with twins, penetrating the chest wall of the selected child and injects a fatal poison into that childs heart, reducing the pregnancy to only one child. I'm not ok with that. In a "salt poisoning abortion" the abortionist removes the amniotic fluid surrounding the child, replacing it with a strong salt solution which the child breathes in, burning her lungs with each breath until, hours later the child goes into violent convulsions, and dies. The mother then delivers a dead baby. I'm not ok with that. In a "D and E" abortion, the abortionist uses a forcepts to reach into the womb, feels for the body of a living, human being, grabs it, twists it and pulls it out of the womb--literally limb-by-limb. I'm not ok with that. In a "chemical abortion" the mother takes two pills, one to kill the child in her womb and a second to put her into labor to deliver her dead baby. Some women have reported that they could not get back to the abortion clinic in time and were told to "expel the contents of your uterus into your toilet." Some of those women said that, even though small, they could see "something moving" in their toilet. Imagine the emotional consequences of reaching for the handle of that toilet and flushing it. I'm not ok with that. That's pro-choice. Steve

Please tell me then, Jack Butler, What is Obama's plan? As far as "hate rhetoric", I was using the very words of your beloved Joy6625. Assuming that you read what she wrote, she started her blog with that very term. Therefore, isn't anyone saying things that she doesn't agree with also "hate rhetoric"? It is a two way street, isn't it? Or is being able to place blame, name call, question the intelligence of others and condescend purely allowable only to the left?
ChrisLey August 26, 2012 at 05:04 am
Oh please, "anti-choice extremists who think that "legitimate" rape can't cause pregnancy" - you think that one person speaks for all don't you? If that is the case, then I guess that Joe Biden speaks for you, right? Maybe he can say something more offensive and stir more race hatred at this next speech and that will be OK with you as well.
ChrisLey August 26, 2012 at 05:10 am
Hey, Jack Butler, You can reply to any of my posts if you would like - simply click on the the "reply" button in the original post that has been responded to. As for my "dreck", weren't you the one who stated that ""Hate rhetoric" is saying anything you don't understand or agree with. First, I do understand everything that I have commented on and stated and second, you are a hypocrite and as based on your use of the word "dreck" when referring to my point of view, opinions and facts. I could stoop to your level but that would me I would have to compromise my values - not gonna happen!
ChrisLey August 26, 2012 at 05:23 am
I have a question, it may seem silly, but here goes. What is President Obama's Net Worth? Anyone know off hand?
Here is another question, How would Mitt Romney eliminate education? How does corporate america plan on gambling with social security? How has congress been bought and who is doing the buying? When did Mitt Romney state that he wanted to spend more money on Haliburton projects (wars)? Do you people see who you have aligned yourself with in joy6625? She states things as if they are facts when in reality it sounds very conspiratorial at best. If, say, President Obama is a multi-millionaire (he is, BTW - http://www.therichest.org/celebnetworth/politician/president/barack-obama-net-worth/ or http://www.davemanuel.com/pols/barack-obama/) doesn't that make him the very person that you can't stand? Doesn't that make him the 1% and so on? Joy says, "Stand for something or you'll fall for anything.". I agree, but your leader is saying "do as I say, not as I do" when it comes to this class warfare his administration has embraced. How can you stand with that?
ChrisLey August 26, 2012 at 05:42 am
Joy6625, I assume you are referring to this article, since you still haven't figured out that you have to substantiate facts and quote your sources - http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/gop-party-platform-likely-to-stick-with-anti-abortion-stance-unlikely-to-address-rape-exception/2012/08/21/53a2bc2a-eb86-11e1-a80b-9f898562d010_story.html
Your right, only in the sense that this article does not actually answer the question about rape and incest because the GOP hasn't mentioned it yet. What legislation are you referring to that is to be presented by Paul Ryan and upheld by all Republicans?
ChrisLey August 26, 2012 at 05:46 am
Joy6625, did you actually as if she was raped? How incredibly insensitive are you? Do you think you are being edgy or are you literally that mean spirited? What if she was raped? Do you think that asking that question is any of your business? Disgusting to say the least!
ChrisLey August 26, 2012 at 06:20 am
Well, cats and kittens, I'm signing off. I wish you all the best of luck and hope that you, and I, get to e better place somehow. This country is on a course of destruction. As evidenced by the daily increasing debt and nobody making that go away any time soon. What can we do? Vote, pray and believe that we, the people, actually are blessed with leaders that can guide us out of this mess.
In closing, do I blame Barack Obama entirely for the mess we are in? Not entirely. Somewhat, yes. As opposed to blame, I think more about accountability. Not just for him, but for all our leaders.
Jo Ann Brown August 26, 2012 at 07:36 am
Steve R - I can visualize every abortion your described. Just like I can visualize a gangrene required amputation. Here, we're talking about a woman's right to choose. Typically, once gangrene sets in a person will die and must lose a body part to live. Doctor recommended late term abortions may be prescribed to save a woman's life. I'll stop there because I hope that you get my point. When it comes to rape or doctor recommended procedures, it should be the woman's right to chose. In the United States of America, the law cannot dictate what a woman must do in such extenuating circumstances. If one woman chooses to take a chance and carry her baby - she's right. If another woman accepts the doctors recommendation and aborts - she's right. That's having a free choice. However, when you change the law and make it a crime punishable by incarceration that over the top. That's where the Republican's are headed with this nonsense. Personhood bills that continue to be voted down by the people continue to be debated in State and Federal government. State Governors and Congressman must stop attempting to legislate a woman's uterus. America has real problems. Let's go to work!
Michael O'Fallon August 26, 2012 at 09:24 pm
You hit the nail on the head with this post, Chris. Our country needs prayer, and we as a people need to make wiser decisions about whom we choose as leaders.
Some people posting in this blog speak the truth, and others are simply dead wrong. Argue whichever "side" you believe to be right, but there is a such thing as right and wrong, and the sooner more people in this world can learn to distinguish right from wrong, the better off we all will be.
Steve R August 27, 2012 at 02:45 am
Dear joy6625--To compare a beautiful, unique human being growing in a mother's womb to an infectious gangrene is about the most callous, uncaring remark I have ever heard. Remember, you were once that small and that vulnerable. You were unique to any other human being to ever walk the earth. Your DNA was established at conception and you began to grow immediately. You were not a dog, a cat or a blob. You were you. Had someone referred to you as an infection such as gangrene, they would have shown their incredible disrespect for life....at all stages. The question to you is, are you ok with sticking a needle full of poison into a perfectly healthy child in the womb? Or forcing an innocent child in the womb to swallow salt water? You didn't answer those questions.....or did you? May God help anyone ok with those barbaric acts.
Jo Ann Brown August 27, 2012 at 06:43 am
If the mother's life is endangered, spare me the graphics.
Steve R August 27, 2012 at 12:24 pm
And if the mother's life is not in danger--which compises virtually 100% of all abortions? And I would love to spare the graphics.... but it would be disengenious to talk about abortion without knowing and speaking the truth about what abortion is. And you STILL have not answered the question--are you ok with dismembering a live human being in the womb? Sorry for the horrid graphics but that is what your side of the argument came up with to make sure a baby in the womb dies so that they can live the lives they want.

Michael Roark 19 and his 17-year-old girlfriend, Tiffany York — shot in the woods in order to keep its plans secret.
Domestic terrorist organization killed a former comrade to protect an anarchist military group they formed that stockpiled assault weapons and plotted a range of anti-government attacks. Evidence shows the group possessed the knowledge, means and motive to carry out their plans. The four defendents, on active-duty or were former members of the military, were Private Isaac Agugui the militia’s founder and leader, who funded the militia using $500,000 in insurance and benefit payments from the death of his pregnant wife; Michael Burnett, a 26 year old soldier said he knew the group’s leaders from serving with them at Fort Stewart; Sargent Anthony Peden, and Private Christopher Salmon. Roark, 19, served with the four defendants in the 4th Brigade Combat Team of the Army's 3rd Infantry Division and became involved with the militia. Also charged in the killings is Salmon's wife, Heather Salmon. Aguigui used the Army to recruit militia members. http://news.yahoo.com/prosecutor-ga-murder-case-uncovers-terror-plot-173341769.html

Better off since Obama's presidency - The typical consumer, small business, taxpayers, homebuyers, bureaucrats, public servants, blue-collar workers and more. http://www.usnews.com/news/blogs/rick-newman/2012/08/22/whos-better-off-under-president-obama
The last great Republican president - Edgar Eisenhower in a personal letter on November 8, 1954: "[T]o attain any success it is quite clear that the Federal government cannot avoid or escape responsibilities which the mass of the people firmly believe should be undertaken by it. The political processes of our country are such that if a rule of reason is not applied in this effort, we will lose everything--even to a possible and drastic change in the Constitution. This is what I mean by my constant insistence upon 'moderation' in government. "Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes you can do these things. Among them are H. L. Hunt [you possibly know his background], a few other Texas oil millionaires, and an occasional politician or business man from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid." https://www.commondreams.org/view/2009/01/26-0 Taxes avoided by the rich could pay off the deficit -http://www.nationofchange.org/add-it-taxes-avoided-rich-could-pay-deficit-1346074084#

NASA would go to any lengths to investigate even one viable living cell discovered on any of its' missions. So why is it that so many so called educated people here on earth disregard what they know to be living viable cells that will someday become a human being? I believe, for convenience. In order to exterminate inconvenient people we must first convince both ourselves and others that these inconveniences are no longer people. Does this sound familiar?
Steve R August 30, 2012 at 05:15 pm
Great point Carol. Thank you. The pro-abortion camp says, "It's" just a clump of cells, what's the big deal?" But we are all a clump of cells today--and have been since the miraculous moment of conception. If the other side dehumanizes life in the womb, they won't feel as bad about ending that life.
