Fourth of July Safety Tips for Airport Travel

Where will you travel this Fourth of July? Avoid throwing out personal items or missing your flight due to a longer screening process with these tips.

The summer season is set to be one of the busiest travel times for U.S. airports. According to AAA, 66 percent of U.S. adults are traveling during this time of the year.

Lambert- St. Louis International Airport (Lambert) is no exception. In fact, Lambert has seen an increase in travel, which has caused long lines at security checkpoints during June. Aviation Pros reported on the situation, in which it describes Lambert officials as being frustrated with peak-time backups at Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoints inside both of the airport's passenger terminals.

According to the report some lines at Lambert's Terminal 2which houses Southwest and AirTranhave leaked outside the front entry door.

"The last few weeks in particular we have seen a number of delays with the lines that we haven't seen in a long time," Airport Director Rhonda Hamm-Niebruegge said in that report.

The TSA said increased passenger and carry-on volumes seen during the summer add to the slowdown.
