Wednesday marks the dedication of the 14th plaque the City of Florissant is issuing to honor someone of prominence in the community.
The plaque will be dedicated this week to the late Judge Timothy W. Kelly, Sr. The city will host the plaque dedication for Kelly on Wednesday, Aug. 28, before the start of the Wednesday Night Out activities near Bunker’s and Stems Florist on Old Town Florissant.
Kelly died in June 2011 after more than 30 years as Florissant's municipal judge. He followed in the footsteps of his late father John F. Kelly. He was 63, and had recently been re-elected to his ninth term as municipal judge. Kelly was elected to the municipal judge position for the first time in 1979.
Kelly grew up in the Florissant area and attended several formal schools such as Our Lady of Fatima and St. Thomas Aquinas. He received a bachelor’s degree in economics from Missouri Valley College and a juris doctorate in 1973 from Saint Louis University School of Law.
