12 Year Old Helps Mother, Raises Funds for Breast Cancer Treatment Costs
The yard sales will take place at 416 Ballman Ave., in Ferguson on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 31 and Sept. 1. The sale will occur from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

After 12 year old Devon Melton hear his mother sobbing about not being able to afford the health care costs associated with her breast cancer, he decided he would do something to help her.
He put in place a plan to help his mom, a mother to four children, who had just had her first breast cancer surgery. He came up with an idea to host a series of garage sales. The problem was that he had nothing to sell.
But Devon refused to give up and came up with the idea to request items in the free section on Craigslist.com. Click here to view the ad.
That add went viral with thousands of people sharing it across social media. Before long, Devon had more donated goods to sell than he knew what to do with.
