THE AMERICAN BOARD IS HOSTING FREE INFORMATION SESSIONS IN FLORISSANT


Career-changers, paraprofessionals, long-term substitutes, parent volunteers, and school staff are encouraged to attend and learn how they can earn their teacher certification online for less than the cost of a college course.


The American Board is an education nonprofit that is dedicated to building communities by recruiting and certifying local professionals to become teachers. The American Board works with the community to provide the highest-quality educators and role models for every student with their innovative, online teacher certification program.

The American Board is authorized to certify Missouri educators in the following subject areas:


·       Biology (9-12)

·       General Science (5-9, 9-12)


·       Physics (9-12)


·       Mathematics (5-9, 9-12)


·       English Language Arts (5-9, 9-12)

Local career-changers who aspire to run their own classrooms make excellent candidates for the American Board program, particularly if there is an identified need in their school for highly-qualified teachers.


Kimberly Polk, representative for The American Board, will be hosting information sessions at the Buder Branch LibraryFlorissant Valley Branch Library, and the Kirkwood Library to discuss the program and take your questions. If you hold a Bachelor’s degree, and wish to become a certified teacher, you should attend an information session to find out how you can be running your own classroom within a year through the American Board program – for less than the cost of a college course and without having to go back to school.  There will be a special program discount offered exclusively to event attendees.
