Windy Conditions Lead to Power Outages

Ameren Missouri reports that 3,800 are without power, including a major part of Florissant.

Ameren Missouri has reported a number of power outages throughout the Florissant area due to windy conditions.

Ameren Missouri Communications Executive Mike Cleary said that approximately 3,800 residences appear to be without power throughout the St. Louis area, with a majority in Florissant and in the southern part of the metro area.

Cleary also indicated that a pole has been broken near Interstate 44. He said that all of the outages appear to be wind-related.

He said Ameren expects to have the power turned back on to those residences fairly quickly; however, with windy conditions continuing through the evening, more outages are possible.

The National Weather Service reported breezy conditions for Wednesday into the night hours. The service reports windy conditions as high as 45 miles per hour, and gusts can be as high as 30 miles per hour during the night.
