Week in Review: Gun Threat Shuts Down School, Man Dies After Being Hit By Car and Walmart News

• A fatal car crash in the 400 block of Humes led to the death of a pedestrian on Jan. 27, according to Florissant police. 
• Hazelwood West High School and Armstrong Elementary were put on lockdown after the threat of a gun on Hazelwood West property sent both schools into lockdown while police investigated. It caused a late dismissal at the elementary school. No one was injured.
• The plans for a Walmart at 3350 and 3400 N. Highway 67 remain up in the air as the representatives for the plan were no-shows at the Florissant City Council meeting.
• Gregg Hall was sworn in as Hazelwood's new chief of police.
• Brown Elementary, in the Hazelwood School District, received a $2,500 Lowe's grant to update its irrigation system and some greenery lost in last year's dry season.
• A Florissant man was sentenced to seven years in prison for the Aug. 6, 2011 assault. Hazelwood Police said the man and his son jumped a man in front of his house.
• A 17-year-old Florissant man robbed another man of his Air Jordan shoes Friday at the James J. Eagan Center. 
• New York Yankees rookie pitcher and Hazelwood-native David Phelps will receive the second annual "Rising Star'' award at the 33rd annual Thurman Munson awards dinner.
• Developer Paul McKee Jr. did not pay property taxes on his Hazelwood Commerce Center project last year, for the third year in a row. He now owes more than $2 million.
• A Florissant man faces criminal charges for three burglaries and a car theft for breaking into a business, a house and a church. 
• Eight Hazelwood Central athletes signed their letters of intent Wednesday morning to play college-level sports.
• More than 400 people attended Hazelwood West High School's Festival of Nations.
• Gov. Jay Nixon announced $1.3 million in grants, including more than .
