Steven Holder Wins $100K on Missouri Lottery Scratcher

The Florissant native said he decided to stop and purchase a ticket only because traffic wasn't bad on his way home from work.

A Florissant man is $100,000 richer after winning the Missouri Lottery on March 15.

Steven Holder said he thought the traffic was moving well enough for him to stop and play on his way home from work.

“It was like, rush hour, and the traffic moved real smooth,” he told the Missouri Lottery. “During that time of day, I couldn’t believe it, so I just went right to Dierbergs.

"I figured I would stop there and try to win a little money to throw back in the bank.”

Holder ended up with the $100,000 after winning “$4,000,000 Cash Spectacular,” of of the lotto's Scratchers games.

Holder said he was only hoping to win $25 or so, and the 56-year-old said he never expected to uncover the large amount of money.

The man, who admitted he only plays the lottery at the Dierbergs on North Lindbergh and only on specific days, said he plans to be conservative in his spending, help his mother and go back to school.
