Restaurant Inspections: Crest Bowl Bar & Grill's New Owner 'Operating in Non-Compliance'

Plus, the inspector visits Chocolate Chocolate Chocolate, Outback Steakhouse, Bandana's and more.

Each week, Florissant Patch publishes information from the local restaurant inspections of St. Louis County Department of Health as well as their grade.

Here are some of the latest restaurant inspections from the past 90 days:

Address:

Comments: Paper towels must be made accessible to the hand sink at all times.

Crest Bowl Bar & Grill
Address:
650 N. New Florissant Rd., Florissant
Date of Inspection: Jan. 14

Grade: 95-A
Comments: Facility not able to provide hepatitis A vaccine documentation for all employees. The soda gun holsters at the bar have accumulated soiled debris inside them. The holsters need to be removed and cleaned routinely. This establishment has a new owner and must complete the new ownership and return it to St. Louis County Health Department. As of now, this establishment is operating in non-compliance. Paperwork needs to be completed and payment shall be made to become compliant with St. Louis County Health. Process must be completed by the follow-up date, Jan. 24.

Comments: Follow-up to the 10/11/12 routine inspection. Both critical and  most non-critical issues have been corrected.

Outback Steakhouse

Comments: Explained to employee that no chewing/eating is allowed while preparing/cooking food. Employees’ hands not washed between tasks and before putting on gloves. Employees washed hands, explained handwashing techniques. No soap and paper towels supplied at handwashing sink in bar area, corrected on-site. Heavy debris buildup inside beverage gun inn bar area. Debris removed. Reach-in cooler holding at 50F. All food items taken out and placed in walk-in cooler. No potentially hazardous foods can be stored in cooler until holding 41F or lower. No proof of hepatitis A immunizations for all employees. Proof provided later. Thermometer not working properly on outside of reach-in cooler, and no thermometer provided inside reach-in cooler. Later provided. Food products not in original packaging. Unlabeled in dry storage area, later labeled. Boxes of food items stored in floor of walk-0in freezer. Boxes were later removed. Drinking straws not stored to protect against contaimination. No running water at handsinks in bar area and employee restroom. Later rectified. Faucet leaks at two and three-compartment sinks in back area. Front floor panel in disrepair in walk0in freezer. Debris on floor under storage shelves in walk-in cooler. Later removed.
