Be A Part of Florissant's Confluence Trash Bash Saturday

Don't forget to show up and help out with the event, which the City of Hazelwood helps to sponsor.

Go ahead and do it now. Registration is still open for the 5th annual Confluence Trash Bash. To register, visit the Trash Bash website or call (314) 436-8708.

Several organizations and residents will be turning up throughout the St. Louis County on Saturday to participate in the event.

The Confluence Bash helps clean up the area’s rivers and creeks and brings attention to the issues of storm water run off and dumping in these area waterways, planning coordinator Dona Anderson said.

This year, a clean-up event will take place at St. Ferdinand Park in Florissant. The clean-up event boasts four sites, Old Chain of Rocks Bridge in St. Louis, St. Ferdinand Park in Florissant, Creve Coeur Park in Maryland Heights and Choteau Township in Granite City, IL.

The Trash Bash has several sponsors, including Trailnet, Great Rivers Greenway, Missouri American Water and the cities of Florissant, Hazelwood and Maryland Heights.

There will be prizes for the weirdest, most expensive and largest items found.

The event starts at 8:30 a.m. with check-in and the actual clean-up starts at 9 a.m. A barbecue lunch will be held at 11:30 a.m. for all volunteers
