Midwest BankCentre Hosts Financial Freedom Day for Unbanked

ST. LOUIS – A festive “Financial Freedom Day” engaged residents of North St. Louis County in smart ways to improve their financial well being.   Midwest BankCentre (MBC), Beyond Housing and “Bank On Save Up” St. Louis sponsored the event on Sept. 28, 2013 at MBC’s Pagedale bank in Pagedale, Mo.

“Financial Freedom Day” advances an initiative launched by the St. Louis Unbanked Task Force in February 2013 to engage 20,000 households in mainstream banking over the next two years.  Local residents learned about checking & savings accounts, products and services to help boost credit ratings, free credit checks and credit counseling, smart alternatives to pay day lenders, tips on budgeting and achieving homeownership.

In addition to financial information, the event featured activities for children including games, balloon animals and face painting as well as a woodworking project sponsored by Lowe’s Home Improvement Warehouse.
