Arsenal Credit Union saves 15 tons from landfills with shred/recycle events

Personal documents are safe from prying eyes, and electronics from landfills, after Arsenal Credit Union’s three successful community shred/recycle events in September and October. Credit union members and community residents were invited to drop off their old documents for free shredding and recycling on Sept. 28 at Arsenal’s Jefferson County and North St. Louis County branches and on Oct. 5 at its Mid St. Louis County branch.

Document shredding partners American Document Destruction and Cintas shredded and recycled a collective 19,300 pounds of paper. RNA Worldwide collected and recycled 10,552 pounds of electronics, including computers, TVs, phones, kitchen appliances and more. These figures represent a record for Arsenal, which has held shred days in conjunction with Earth Day in the spring and Secure Your ID Month in the fall for the last several years.

One lucky participant in the Mid St. Louis County shred event won a one-year subscription to AllClearID identity theft protection. The giveaway was coordinated by ClearPoint Credit Counseling Solutions, which partners with Arsenal for onsite credit counseling and is an annual partner in Secure Your ID Month.
