Restaurant Inspections: Florissant Fish and Chicken Closes from Violations

Also, Dairy Queen has complaint filed regarding a rodent.

We’re changing up our restaurant inspections a tad bit.

We've expanded our inspections to surrounding areas, including Creve Coeur, Maryland Heights and Hazelwood. 

Each week, Florissant Patch publishes information from the local restaurant inspections of St. Louis County Department of Health as well as their grade.

Here are the latest restaurant inspections for the past 90 days: 

Dairy Queen
Address: 2678 N. Highway 67, Florissant
Date of Inspection: Oct. 9
Type of Inspection: Complaint
Risk Factor: 2
Grade: 100-A
Comments: Customer complained that she saw a rodent enter the building through a gap in the back door. Manager explained that the restaurant is serviced regularly by pest service, and inspector found no evidence of rodents. Inspector also noticed no gaps on the outside.

Florissant Fish and Chicken
Address: 2575 N. Highway 67, Florissant
Date of Inspection: Oct. 9
Type of Inspection: Complaint
Risk Factor: 3
Grade: 100-A
Comments: A customer complained that her and her husband became ill after eating catfish nuggets and fries that they purchased from the restaurant on Oct. 5. An inspector came for a routine inspection of the establishment and found a number of health and safety violations that were a risk to the public. Inspector and manager determined restaurant must shut down until violations are corrected. The restaurant must be re-inspected by the health department before reopening.

Address: 5555 St. Louis Mills Blvd., Hazelwood

Type of Inspection: Routine

Comments: Debris found at the bottom of the reach-in freezer.

Haagen Dazs
Address: 5555 St. Louis Mills Blvd., Hazelwood

Grade: 96-A
Comments: No handsoap available at handsink; gasket not sealed properly on cooler.
*Follow-up inspection scheduled for Oct. 11.

Chihuahua’s Bar and Grill
Address: 1932 McKelvey Rd., Maryland Heights
Date of Inspection: Oct. 1
Type of Inspection: Routine
Risk Factor: 3
Grade: 100-A
Comments: Mold-like substance has been formed on the interior surfaces of the ice machine.

It’s a Better Burger
Address: 11982 Dorsett Rd., Maryland Heights
Date of Inspection: Oct. 1
Type of Inspection: Opening
Risk Factor: 2
Grade: 100-A
Comments: Inspector noted that the refrigeration units were in working condition, but they didn’t have any food to check the temperatures. The inspector notes that he’ll return to check the refrigeration and Hepatitis A records.
*Follow-up inspection scheduled for Nov. 1.

Bristol Bar and Grill
Address: 11801 Olive Blvd., Creve Coeur
Date of Inspection: Oct. 10
Type of Inspection: Routine
Risk Factor: 3
Grade: 98-A
Comments: Straws not properly wrapped; wet wiping cloth not stored properly in sanitizing solution.

 

Cookies by Design
Address: 11453 Olive Blvd., Creve Coeur
Date of Inspection: Oct. 5
Type of Inspection: Routine
Risk Factor: 1
Grade: 92-A
Comments: Inspector noticed employee handling ready-to-eat products with gloves or tongs; insects, animals present; no test strips given to check sanitizing concentration; no covered receptacle in women’s restroom.
*Follow-up inspection scheduled for Oct. 15

Um... how did Florissant Fish get a 100 if it was shut down?

That's what the report, said, so it's an interesting point. I'm awaiting to hear more from the health department. I'll continue to follow it as it develops.

Cindy, My (93 old) mom lives in the Walnut grove neighborhood and just got her phone back yesterday.Read More Florissant told her they would NOT come by. There are several neighbors with mounds of limbs on Milbank and Wadsworth. This has to be an error. Can you followup on this?

Paul I am sorry I just got the message, If you did not get your problem solve, call City Hall again,Read More Because I was told you would be put on a list for limbs being pick up, Call 921-5700, let them know what your mom has.
