Howard Nimmons Named 2013 Business Person of the Year

The owner of Nimmons Wealth Management will be honored April 12.

When the Greater North County Chamber of Commerce had to select its 2013 Outstanding Business Person of the Year, the committee chose someone in the Old Town Florissant area.

The chamber selected small business owner Howard Nimmons, owner of Nimmons Wealth Management, as this year’s business person of the year.

“The Chamber has been an integral part of our business plan from the beginning,” Nimmons said in a press release. “As members of the Chamber, we have enjoyed many close relationships over the years. We have gained much more than just business opportunities by our membership in the Chamber.”

Nimmons joined the chamber the same year he founded his business in 1996. His practice focuses on helping people with tax and investment management, retirement strategies, estate conservation and insurance and annuity products.

He has remained an active resident and business owner of North County.

For the past two years, he’s served as secretary of the chamber’s board of directors. But he’s been committed to serve in a number of organizations, including, including North County Inc., serving on the Board of Directors since 2000, Florissant Rotary Club, where he’s been a member since 1998 and is president-elect for 2013.

“Howard is deserving of this award,” Carolyn Marty, president of the Greater North County Chamber, said. “He’s committed to his clients and the community where he lives and works.”

Nimmons will be honored at the chamber’s Annual Outstanding Business Person of the Year and Installation Dinner on April 12 at Norwood Hills Country Club.

“It’s a nice recognition from your peers,” Nimmons said. “A lot of times as a small business owner, I think you wonder if anyone is paying attention. This says, ‘Yeah, someone is paying attention.’”
