Delmar Gardens Adding Assisted Living Services to Florissant Facility Thanks to $33 Million Expansion

The company received approval to convert some of its current units at five of its facilities in Florissant and the St. Louis area from a state health commission earlier this week.

Delmar Gardens is adding assited-living beds to its current senior housing facilities following a decision by a state health committee to approval the $33 million project.

The Missouri Health Facilities Review Committee granted the request at a Jan. 7 meeting. Delmar Gardens had submitted what are called "certificates of need" to add the beds to five of its St. Louis facilities, including the Garden Villas North retirement community, located in Florissant.

The Florissant renovations will mean the company spends $7.1 million at Garden Villas North to convert 58 units into 70 assisted-living beds. The four other facilities receiving assited living beds are located in Town and Country, O'Fallon, Chesterfield, and St. Louis.

According to a report in the St. Louis Business Journal, it represents the first time Delmar Gardens has entered the assited living market. The companies CEO Gabe Grossberg said the move allows the company to provide licensed assisted-living services "in-house" to residents in their retirement communities as they age.
