Alps Supermarket Has Closed Its Doors

The locally owned market had been in business for more than three years.

Florissant has one less market in its midst. Alps Supermarket, located on North New Florissant Road, has closed its doors for good.

The locally owned grocery store closed Tuesday after three and a half years in business, property owner Hiren Patel said. He also said that the business was doing OK, but he’s looking at getting another one moved into the property soon. He didn’t disclose if there’s any deals or negotiations currently ongoing.

On Facebook, several local shoppers expressed their sadness of the closing.

“Going to miss ALPS being so close to home,” Sue Kern wrote.

Greg Ulrich wrote, “What a bummer. It was a great place to pick up milk and other items.”

i live very close to alps, and will miss them too. I heard Family Dollar is moving in where ALPS was, and keeping the same workers. Not sure how I feel about that, but i'd rather anything be there than it be left vacant again.

The packaged food was stale, fresh veg,old and I saw pkg. lunch meat with mold. I tried Alps once and that was enough.

They had no marketing or advertising thus people not from that general area had no clue about them.
