Friday Storm Trims Trees, Leaves Thousands Without Power in North County

Many reel following a storm and possible tornado that touched down in the area.

After a brutal thunderstorm and reported possible tornado touched down in the North County area, tree limbs and power outages have been left in its wake.Β 

Starting at approximately 8 p.m. Friday night, a series of tornado warnings had been issued for the St. Louis County area, including North County area. Reports from Twitter through the St. Louis County Office of Emergency Management identify a possible tornado in or near Florissant area.Β 

Ameren Missouri had more than 15,000 power outages reported on its outage map for North County, including up to as many as 10,000 in Florissant.Β 

Florissant Police spokesman Andy Haarman said Friday evening that several reports of downed trees and tree limbs had been reported in the area. No accidents or injuries had been reported as of time of publication.

A tree on North Waterford had traffic blocked, I observed on my trek home following the storm.

On Facebook, residents reported downed tree limbs and several power outages across the area.
