TEAM Food Pantry Needs More North County Support

The pantry is asking for monetary and food donations from residents as its supplies begin to run low.

is in an emergency itself.

Recently, the and has requested residents to help the local pantry as its supplies grow low.

Mayor Schneider said, "I ask that you help support this food drive and try and donate as much as you can to help those that need our help during this difficult time. I am making this plea to all citizens of Florissant who are gainfully employed or have the means to purchase food for those who cannot."

The pantry accepts monetary or food donations Monday through Friday, 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

Beverly, I have dropped off some can goods at their back door before after hours. As long as it isn't anything that can't be outside, that's an option. I also know of a few occassions they've driven to pick up donations, but large ones, like @ my daughter's school. I know St. Rose rewards the kids who bring in 1 can good or anything to donate for TEAM on the last Friday of the month. Now that we've switched schools, I'm thinking the public schools don't have anything like that. It's not the child's fault if their unable to donate so i'm not too hip on rewarding a child for donating, they may not have food at home themselves. BUT, PTA's @ schools, or staff members would be an amazing start to getting larger donations to those who need it. TEAM is an EXCEPTIONAL operation, all involved are strictly VOLUNTEERS. I'm not ashamed to say we have had to go there before. There phone lines open @ 10am and they go by 1st come 1st serve but you MUST have an appt. They are usually booked for the day by 11am, so trust me when I tell you, SOOOO many people in our community (especially young children) need their services. I'm going to think of a few ideas to try and come up with a 1 or 2 day event where anyone can drop off items at anytime maybe from 7am to 9pm. Then we can load up a truck and deliver to them the following morning, or make the arrangements that are easiest for TEAM. We MUST come together as a community to fix this, and get them back to helping our neighbors who need them!!

Thanks for that tip Stacey. I also know that there are usually places such as the Eagan Center and JFK Center that have taken donations for TEAM, so that might be worth a call as well. :)
