Picking It Up or Hanging It Up

This week, Moms Talk discusses this generation's need for cell phones.

My mom bought my first cell phone for me when I was 14 years old. She didn't whole-heartedly agree with it, but I was in a number of youth programs that traveled across the country, and she wanted us to be able to maintain contact.

Of course, when I turned 16, I became responsbile for keeping up with the expenses on that bill, and it's been the same way ever since.

A couple of years ago, when my little cousin was 7, she received her first cell phone to keep in touch with her dad and family members. I didn't agree with it, but I didn't have a say in it either.
