More Than a Piece of Candy

Crown Candy Kitchen offers experience from another time as well as a sweet time.

Although Crown Candy Kitchen isn’t located right next door to Florissant, people think its worth the drive, not to mention the line halfway around the block, for its homemade chocolate bunnies at Easter. It’s been in existence in St. Louis since 1913 and, despite the economy, shows no sign of disappearing.

If you’re a fan of shows like Man vs. Food, you can take on a food challenge failed by Adam Richman. Anyone who can drink five malts in half an hour not only gets the delicious dairy goodness for free, they also get a Crown Candy Kitchen commemorative T-Shirt and their name inscribed on a plaque. He failed, but you might succeed.

In addition to their infamous candy, Crown Candy Kitchen has an old-fashioned lunch counter with Egg Salad, Grilled Cheese and Tuna Melt sandwiches ranging from $4.00 - $7.50.

For those merely seeking to satisfy a sweet tooth, Crown Candy Kitchen offers classic candies such as hand-dipped nut clusters, toffees and nonpareils.

If you’ve never been in, bring $20 to buy a box of hand picked mixed chocolates. They’re everything Fannie Mae and Russel Stovers never lived up to, and they’re 100 percent local.
