May Starts With Delicious Deals

We're all watching our family budgets these days. Whether shopping with coupons or looking for two-for-one deals, we're taking advantage of all sorts of offers and savings that help us stretch our dollars.

This column will be dedicated to giving you eight great local deals each week that will help your family’s bottom line, and since we do the scouting for you, you can save time as well as money.

This week, Frugal Family scoured our local sources to come up with great deals on a family "knight," Cinco de Mayo ideas, Mother's Day gifts and more.

1. Deal: As part of Florissant's Valley of Flowers Festival, there will be a "Family Knight" on Thursday from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. that features food and rides for $1 each.
Good on: May 5

2. Deal: With so many photogenic needs coming up, Target has a huge sale on cameras and camcorders, including the Canon Powershot A2200 camera for $89.
Good through: May 7

3. Deal: Brighton Collectibles offers a free pair of earrings when you buy a necklace and bracelet, just in time for Mother's Day.
Good through: May 8

4. Deal: If you spend $75 or more at any stores in the St. Louis Galleria, you are eligible to receive a $10 Shop Etc. gift card and a free one-year subscription to Better Homes and Gardens magazine. You can redeem these "Mother's Day Rewards" at the Garden Court in the mall.
Good on: May 6-7

5. Deal: Moms who head to First Watch Restaurant for breakfast, brunch or lunch on Mother's Day will receive a free mini-box of Russell Stover chocolates while supplies last.
Good on: May 8

6. Deal: If you don't want to go out for Mother's Day, Trader Joe's has plenty of items available to make your mom breakfast in bed. Their newly-published May "Fearless Flyer" boasts different varieties of cereal, fruit, coffee and baked goods, including Organic California Strawberries for $2.99 for a one-pound container.

7. Deal: Casa Gallardo offers $2 tacos, taquitos and wings from 4 p.m. to close on Cinco de Mayo, in addition to drink specials all day.
Good on: May 5

8. Deal: Schnucks has several items on sale that will help you prepare a Cinco de Mayo meal at home. Avocados, roma tomatoes, mangoes, Concord Foods Guacamole Mix, Schnucks Sour Cream, Piñata Tortillas and pre-made José Olé Burritos are each 10 for $10.
