KSHE95 will be in the City of Florissant on Saturday to collect blood for its annual Winter Blood Drive, in partnership with the American Red Cross, from 9 a.m to 5 p.m. today, Saturday, Dec. 8.
Those who attempt to donate blood at the James J. Eagan Center or any of the other nine Missouri and Illinois locations will receive a specially designed KSHE95 Winter Blood Drive t-shirt while supplies last.
“All types are needed, but especially type O negative, which is the universal blood type,” the radio station said in a press release. “This means type O negative blood can be transfused to anyone who needs blood, regardless of their own blood type."
The American Red Cross says that type O negative is especially valuable during emergencies, when there is no time to cross-match a person’s blood type. That’s why it’s especially important that people with type O negative blood donate as frequently as they can.
