DESCRIPTION:St. Louis County Parks announces a new exhibit\, the War of 1
 812\, at the General Daniel Bissell House Museum. Often referred to as t
 he second American Revolution\, two hundred years ago on June 18\, 1812\
 , the United States declared war on the British Empire. Reasons were man
 y and included trade restrictions\, British impressment of American merc
 hant sailors and support of American Indian tribes against American expa
 nsion\, and humiliations on the high seas. This was the first time that 
 the United States had declared war on another country.\n&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&n
 bsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; Now you ca
 n view an exhibit on the oft forgotten conflict at the Bissell House Mus
 eum and get a tour of this magnificent old house. The exhibit includes d
 escriptive panels from the Museum of the U.S. Navy\, General Daniel Biss
 ell artifacts\, including the field desk that he used during the war\, a
 nd prints from the Company of Military Historians.\n&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\
 ;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; The museum wil
 l be open from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. every Friday or you can schedule a v
 isit any other day by calling (314) 544-6224 or (3124) 544-5714. Cost fo
 r the exhibit and tour is $5 per person. Children under 12 are free.
