Lutheran Schools to Host Open Houses Feb. 10
ST. LOUIS, MO (Jan., 28, 2013) – Lutheran schools in Florissant, Overland and Bellefontaine Neighbors will welcome visitors Sun., Feb. 10, during a special "all schools" Open House event. Most schools will welcome visitors from 1-3 p.m., but times may vary.
Participating schools include Lutheran North, Atonement Lutheran, and Salem Lutheran in Florissant. Other north area schools include Our Redeemer in Overland; Grace Chapel in Bellefontaine Neighbors; and River Roads in north St. Louis (Baden). To find address and contact information, visit www.metrolutheranschools.org. The schools are members of the St. Louis-based Lutheran Elementary School Association (LESA).
Families can tour classrooms, meet with principals and find out about need-based scholarship opportunities.
Recent data released by the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), often called the "Nation's Report Card," rank Lutheran schools as the #1 school system in the country in terms of academic achievement.
"Our mission is to touch the lives of children and families through an academically-focused, faith-based elementary school experience and make a positive difference in their future," said Deb Schmich, LESA's Director.
More than 7,000 children attend LESA-member Lutheran schools in the St. Louis Metro Area. Several LESA schools rank among the largest Lutheran schools in the country. Two of those schools - St. John Lutheran in Ellisville and Christ Community Lutheran in Kirkwood and Webster Groves - are nationally-recognized Blue Ribbon Schools.
A Recognized Service Organization of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, LESA represents 30 elementary schools, four high schools and four related agencies in St. Louis and southern Illinois.
