About this column:
Each week, we merge the social media world with the Florissant Patch world. You can find us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/FlorissantPatch or follow us on Twitter @FlorissantPatchAs social media continues to grow and change in its form, the number of businesses joining the networks continues to expand, too. According to a TechJournal article last year, businesses using social media to attract new customers rose by 43 percent during the course of a year. In Florissant, several businesses have capitalized on using social media, such as Yacovelli’s, de.lish Cheesecake Bakery and Café, DQ-Florissant and Helfer’s Pastries and Deli Café, have used social media to not only to attract customers but to promote specials, update menus and interact with customers first hand. Now we’ve given you the rundown of why you should like us on Facebook and Twitter, but what about those who aren’t on social media at all. I’ve heard it all – it’s too complicated or it’s not interesting, but there’s a lot you can get out of using social media. I’ve jotted down a few ideas, …
This week saw a lot of ups and downs with a shooting of a Florissant police officer overshadowing the town. If you’re new to the Twitterverse, you might be learning that Twitter only allows you to use 140 characters. That means, …

We’ve had an active Facebook page this week with Walmart withdrawing its community improvement district proposal, and a few folks sharing their two cents to the issue. “Curious to know if the people who think there are enough stores already are also against more restaurants going in (like Five Guys Burgers and Fries) or against the Value City project...after all, we …

Although, the Florissant pick, No. 1 China, lost this week, we’ll surely win the dining war. We asked about people’s interest in seeing a forum/live chat event with the candidates on the April 3 ballot, and we’ve heard that people would love to see …
Several readers fit into one of three categories. Those who casually stop by when they can, some are newsletter subscribers who get their Patch fill everyday and then there are those who are loyal social media followers. We want to bring those two worlds together with our new social media column. Each week, we’ll discuss items on our social media sites, changes, developments and best of all, you.
