Every now and then, I like to think of 10 things that would make our schools a better place. After all, I could list a hundred things wrong with our school system. School massacres, brutal bullying, and increased suicide rates in young children, clearly provide evidence something is terribly wrong.
However, I would rather talk about how to make schools a better place. It is time for this generation to take charge and restore our schools. My list of 10 things your child needs for school may not be what you expect, but it is definitely what your child deserves. If every child had these ten things, our schools would begin to be a better place.
Ten Things Your Child Needs For School...
1. A parent who gets out of bed before their child.
A child who gets up and goes to school on their own, while their parent sleeps in, is a lonely child.
3. Clothes that fit.
Too small (girls), or too big (boys), can actually distract a child from learning.
4. Help with homework.
Absolutely NO child should be failing a class. If yours is, how often is a parent sitting with them to make sure homework is done correctly? If homework was done correctly every day, your child would not fail.
5. Encouragement to read.
Routine trips to the library, not so the parent can use the computer, but so the parent can spend time with the child, to instill a love of books. “There are many little ways to enlarge your child's world. Love of books is the best of all.” Jacqueline Kennedy
6. A parent who goes to bed after the child.
Children need a reasonable bedtime to be healthy.
7. Video censorship.
Young eyes should not see sexual or violent content. They may actually be thinking about it at school, long after it's been viewed.
Give it to a child and they will pass it on.
9. Somebody they can talk to about their day.
Too much computer/phone time is causing our children to be ignored.
10. Time to play.
Children who play have higher test scores.
